CB Mangler, short for Christopher Brief Mangler was born in 1974 on a small ranch deep in the deserts of new mexico. Raised by Red Ryder, outlaw cowboys, and circus midgets he quickly learned to rope and shoot like a true pro. Although he could shoot a moving possum in the eye at 500 yards his life would take a different course. On a hot summer day sometime in the year of 1977 while drawing out a map in the sand to the nearest water hole, his uncle noticed the skill in which he drew the face of what may have been jesus but was most likely his mother. This had nothing to do with the map and they never found the water hole but they all knew what had to be done. Chris would be banished from the ranch and never talked about again. He was sent away to seattle because that was as far as they could send him in the continental United States.

When he arrived in seattle, Chris used his last dollar to enroll in the graphic design course at seattle central community college. He quickly discovered that a dollar wasn't going to be enough. He would have to come up with at least two dollars if he was ever going to see his dreams come true. So he did what any red blooded american would do in this situation, he got himself in a punk rock band.

Taken sometime around 1975 this is the only surviving photo of Chris with his family. Left to right: family friend "little beaver" Uncle" Red Ryder" and Chris.

As the drummer of The Briefs, Chris soon found himself traveling the world seeing and doing things that he never imagined. He not only made two dollars but two and a half sometimes even three! For eight years Chris lived in a van and ate only noodles out of cans.

Still in Seattle and still in the briefs Chris spends most of his time painting and keeping sketch book journals of is travels. Chris works in mostly oil and works on anything from board and canvas to walls and ceilings. Although most of his work is figurative he also enjoys landscapes and architecture.
